| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 752.053(a), Government Code, is amended | |
| 12 | 12 | to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | (a) A local entity or campus police department may not: | |
| 14 | 14 | (1) adopt or[,] enforce[, or endorse] a policy under | |
| 15 | 15 | which the entity or department prohibits or materially limits the | |
| 16 | 16 | enforcement of immigration laws; | |
| 17 | 17 | (2) as demonstrated by pattern or practice, prohibit | |
| 18 | 18 | or materially limit the enforcement of immigration laws; or | |
| 19 | 19 | (3) for an entity that is a law enforcement agency or | |
| 20 | 20 | for a department, as demonstrated by pattern or practice, | |
| 21 | 21 | intentionally violate Article 2.251, Code of Criminal Procedure. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
