11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 51.882, Education Code, is amended by | |
13 | 13 | amending Subsection (d) and adding Subsection (f) to read as | |
14 | 14 | follows: | |
15 | 15 | (d) Each institution of higher education that adopts a | |
16 | 16 | policy under Subsection (a): | |
17 | 17 | (1) must require that the institution's campuses have | |
18 | 18 | personnel or volunteers authorized and trained to administer an | |
19 | 19 | epinephrine auto-injector present; and | |
20 | 20 | (2) shall include the policy in the institution's | |
21 | 21 | student handbook or similar publication and publish the policy on | |
22 | 22 | the institution's Internet website. | |
23 | 23 | (f) An institution of higher education that adopts a policy | |
24 | 24 | under Subsection (a) shall submit to the Department of State Health | |
25 | 25 | Services a copy of the policy and any amendment to the policy | |
26 | 26 | adopted by the institution. The department shall maintain a record | |
27 | 27 | of the most recent policy and amendments submitted by each | |
28 | 28 | institution under this subsection and shall make that information | |
29 | 29 | available to the public on request. | |
30 | 30 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
