55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to a study by the Texas Department of Transportation of the
88 feasibility of certain improvements to Interstate Highway 27.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. (a) In this Act:
1111 (1) "Improvement" has the meaning assigned by Section
1212 221.001, Transportation Code.
1313 (2) "Port of entry" has the meaning assigned by
1414 Section 621.001, Transportation Code.
1515 (b) The Texas Department of Transportation shall conduct a
1616 study of the feasibility of and the costs and logistical matters
1717 associated with improvements that would extend Interstate Highway
1818 27:
1919 (1) from its southern terminus to Interstate Highway
2020 20;
2121 (2) from Interstate Highway 20 to Interstate Highway
2222 10; and
2323 (3) from Interstate Highway 10 to the port of entry
2424 located in Laredo.
2525 (c) Not later than January 1, 2021, the department shall
2626 submit a report on the results of the study to the governor, the
2727 lieutenant governor, the speaker of the house of representatives,
2828 and the presiding officer of each standing committee of the
2929 legislature with jurisdiction over transportation matters.
3030 (d) This Act expires August 31, 2021.
3131 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3232 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3333 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3434 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3535 Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
