8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 501, Health and Safety | |
10 | 10 | Code, is amended by adding Section 501.0245 to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | Sec. 501.0245. NOTICE OF RADIOACTIVE SUBSTANCE RELEASE. | |
12 | 12 | Notwithstanding Subchapter H, Chapter 418, Government Code, or any | |
13 | 13 | other law requiring confidentiality, a person who accidentally | |
14 | 14 | releases a radioactive substance into the environment shall | |
15 | 15 | immediately notify each political subdivision of this state into | |
16 | 16 | which the substance was released. | |
17 | 17 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
18 | 18 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
19 | 19 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
20 | 20 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
21 | 21 | Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
