77 relating to notice of a radioactive substance release.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 501, Health and Safety
1010 Code, is amended by adding Section 501.0245 to read as follows:
1111 Sec. 501.0245. NOTICE OF RADIOACTIVE SUBSTANCE RELEASE.
1212 Notwithstanding Subchapter H, Chapter 418, Government Code, or any
1313 other law requiring confidentiality, a person who accidentally
1414 releases a radioactive substance into the environment shall
1515 immediately notify each political subdivision of this state into
1616 which the substance was released.
1717 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1818 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
1919 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2020 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2121 Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
