| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 46.04, Penal Code, is amended by adding | |
| 12 | 12 | Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | (a-1) A person who has been placed on deferred adjudication | |
| 14 | 14 | community supervision for a felony listed in Article 42A.054(a), | |
| 15 | 15 | Code of Criminal Procedure, commits an offense if the person | |
| 16 | 16 | possesses a firearm during the person's period of supervision. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a | |
| 18 | 18 | person on deferred adjudication community supervision on or after | |
| 19 | 19 | the effective date of this Act, regardless of whether the person was | |
| 20 | 20 | placed on deferred adjudication community supervision before, on, | |
| 21 | 21 | or after the effective date of this Act. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
