9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 82.043(c), Family Code, is amended to | |
11 | 11 | read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (c) Notice of an application for a protective order must be | |
13 | 13 | served on the person [in the same manner as citation under the Texas | |
14 | 14 | Rules of Civil Procedure, except that service by publication is not | |
15 | 15 | authorized]. | |
16 | 16 | SECTION 2. Section 82.043, Family Code, as amended by this | |
17 | 17 | Act, applies only to a notice of an application for a protective | |
18 | 18 | order served on or after the effective date of this Act. An | |
19 | 19 | application for a protective order served before the effective date | |
20 | 20 | of this Act is governed by the law in effect immediately before that | |
21 | 21 | date, and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
