66 AN ACT
77 relating to the administration of a practical examination by a
88 junior college or career school or college.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 132, Education Code, is
1111 amended by adding Section 132.007 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 132.007. COSMETOLOGY TRAINING PROGRAM; PRACTICAL
1313 EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS. (a) A public junior college or career
1414 school or college may administer any practical examination required
1515 by law for the practice of cosmetology.
1616 (b) Notwithstanding any other provision in the law, any
1717 person sitting for a professional exam for the practice of
1818 cosmetology must have completed a minimum of 1,000 hours of
1919 instruction, including a minimum of 150 hours of instruction in
2020 sanitation and safety, in a beauty culture course or in a vocational
2121 cosmetology program in a public school, including a junior college
2222 or career school or college.
2323 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
