10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 434.032, Government Code, is amended by | |
12 | 12 | amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (c) to read as | |
13 | 13 | follows: | |
14 | 14 | (a) In a county with a population of 200,000 or more, the | |
15 | 15 | commissioners court shall maintain a veterans county service | |
16 | 16 | office. The office must: | |
17 | 17 | (1) be separate and distinct from other county | |
18 | 18 | offices; | |
19 | 19 | (2) be staffed by at least one full-time employee; and | |
20 | 20 | (3) except as provided by Subsection (c), report | |
21 | 21 | directly to the commissioners court. | |
22 | 22 | (c) A commissioners court that maintains a veterans county | |
23 | 23 | service office may order the office to report directly to the | |
24 | 24 | county's chief administrator. | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
