55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to permitting a hunter education component as part of a
88 school district's physical education curriculum offered to certain
99 students.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 28.002, Education Code, is amended by
1212 adding Subsection (d-1) to read as follows:
1313 (d-1) The State Board of Education, in consultation with the
1414 Parks and Wildlife Department, shall develop a hunter education
1515 course for students in grades 7 through 12 that a school district
1616 may use in the district's physical education curriculum under
1717 Subsection (a)(2)(C).
1818 SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2019-2020
1919 school year.
2020 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2121 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2222 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2323 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2424 Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
