66 AN ACT
77 relating to polling place locations under the countywide polling
88 place program.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 43.007(f), Election Code, is amended to
1111 read as follows:
1212 (f) In selecting countywide polling places, a county must
1313 adopt a methodology for determining where each polling place will
1414 be located. The county may locate a countywide polling place in
1515 every precinct in the county. The total number of countywide
1616 polling places may not be less than:
1717 (1) except as provided by Subdivision (2), 50 percent
1818 of the number of precinct polling places that would otherwise be
1919 located in the county for that election; or
2020 (2) for an election held in the first year in which the
2121 county participates in the program, 65 percent of the number of
2222 precinct polling places that would otherwise be located in the
2323 county for that election.
2424 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2525 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2626 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2727 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2828 Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
