118 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
12- SECTION 1. Section 134.007, Education Code, is amended to

11+ (c) In awarding grants under this chapter, the commission,
12+ to the extent feasible, shall distribute grants equally across
13+ geographic areas of this state.
14+ SECTION 2. Section 134.007, Education Code, is amended to
1315 read as follows:
1416 Sec. 134.007. GRANTS AWARDED TO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL
1517 DISTRICT. (a) The commission may award a grant to an independent
1618 school district under this chapter if the district has entered into
1719 a partnership with a public junior college, public technical
1820 institute, or public state college for the purpose of:
1921 (1) promoting career and technical education to the
2022 district's students; or
2123 (2) offering dual credit courses to the district's
2224 students.
2325 (b) Notwithstanding Subsection (a), an independent school
2426 district located in a rural area of this state in which no public
2527 junior college, public technical institute, or public state college
2628 is located in close geographic proximity to the district may be
2729 awarded a grant under this chapter to provide career and technical
2830 education courses or programs to students in the district in
2931 partnership with a local manufacturing facility in the area. The
3032 commission shall adopt rules for the administration of this
3133 subsection.
32- SECTION 2. Chapter 134, Education Code, is amended by

4446 support courses or programs that prepare students for employment in
4547 those occupations; and
4648 (2) include the following data for the most recent
4749 two-year period for which the information is available,
4850 disaggregated by appropriate region as determined by the
4951 commission:
5052 (A) the number of students receiving career and
5153 technical education funded by grants awarded under this chapter;
5254 (B) the number of students attaining a
5355 certificate, a degree, or an industry certification or other
5456 workforce credential as a result of receiving career and technical
5557 education funded by grants awarded under this chapter;
5658 (C) the number of students entering the workforce
5759 who received career and technical education funded by grants
5860 awarded under this chapter; and
5961 (D) any losses or gains in manufacturing jobs and
6062 the effect of those losses or gains on workforce education needs.
61- SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
