| 8 | 8 | | disease prevention during a disaster. |

| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 418, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended by adding Section 418.1861 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 418.1861. DISEASE PREVENTION INFORMATION IN |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | DISASTERS. (a) In this section, "department" means the Department |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | of State Health Services. |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (b) The department shall develop and implement a disease |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | prevention information system for dissemination of immunization |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | information during a disaster. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (c) During a declared state of disaster or local state of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | disaster, the department shall ensure that educational materials |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | regarding immunizations are available to local health authorities |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | in this state for distribution to the following: |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (1) schools; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (2) child-care facilities as defined by Section |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | 42.002, Human Resources Code; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (3) community centers offering youth services and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | programs. |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (d) The educational materials under Subsection (c) must |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | include: |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (1) the most recent immunization schedules by age as |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | recommended by the federal Centers for Disease Control and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Prevention; and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | (2) locations, if any, of local providers offering |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | immunizations. |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | SECTION 2. As soon as practicable, but not later than August |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | 31, 2020, the Department of State Health Services shall implement |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | the disease prevention information system as required by Section |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | 418.1861, Government Code, as added by this Act. |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
