55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to court-ordered support for a child with a disability.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 154.302(b), Family Code, is amended to
1010 read as follows:
1111 (b) Except as otherwise provided by this subsection, a [A]
1212 court that orders support under this section shall designate a
1313 parent of the child, [or] another person having physical custody or
1414 guardianship of the child under a court order, or a special needs
1515 trust created for the child to receive the support for the child.
1616 The court may designate a child who is 18 years of age or older to
1717 receive the support directly.
1818 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act constitutes a
1919 material and substantial change of circumstances under Section
2020 156.401, Family Code, sufficient to warrant modification of a court
2121 order or a portion of a decree that provides for the support of a
2222 child rendered before the effective date of this Act.
2323 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
