55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the eligibility of certain applicants for state bar
88 examination.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 82, Government Code, is
1111 amended by adding Section 82.025 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 82.025. ATTORNEY LICENSED IN ANOTHER STATE. (a)
1313 Notwithstanding Sections 82.024, 82.0241, and 82.036, an attorney
1414 licensed to practice law in another state is eligible to take this
1515 state's bar examination if the attorney:
1616 (1) is a citizen of the United States; and
1717 (2) satisfies all other requirements to be licensed in
1818 this state.
1919 (b) An attorney eligible to take the examination under this
2020 section must comply with the procedures and deadlines prescribed by
2121 the supreme court.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
