| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 501, Government Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 501.0155 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 501.0155. PROVIDING DISCHARGED OR RELEASED INMATE WITH | |
| 13 | 13 | DOCUMENTATION FOR EMPLOYMENT. When an inmate is discharged or | |
| 14 | 14 | released on parole, mandatory supervision, or conditional pardon | |
| 15 | 15 | and the intended residence designated by the inmate is in this | |
| 16 | 16 | state, the department shall provide the inmate with relevant | |
| 17 | 17 | documentation to assist the inmate in obtaining post-release | |
| 18 | 18 | employment, including: | |
| 19 | 19 | (1) as applicable: | |
| 20 | 20 | (A) the copy of the inmate's job training record | |
| 21 | 21 | described by Section 497.094; | |
| 22 | 22 | (B) the copy of the inmate's work record | |
| 23 | 23 | described by Section 497.095; and | |
| 24 | 24 | (C) the personal identification certificate | |
| 25 | 25 | requested to be issued under Section 501.0165; | |
| 26 | 26 | (2) a certified copy of the inmate's birth | |
| 27 | 27 | certificate; | |
| 28 | 28 | (3) the inmate's social security card or a replacement | |
| 29 | 29 | social security card; | |
| 30 | 30 | (4) a resume that includes any trade learned by the | |
| 31 | 31 | inmate and the inmate's proficiency at that trade; and | |
| 32 | 32 | (5) documentation that the inmate has completed a | |
| 33 | 33 | practice job interview. | |
| 34 | 34 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
