| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 254, Election Code, is |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | amended by adding Section 254.04012 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Sec. 254.04012. AVAILABILITY OF REPORTS OF JUSTICES OF THE |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | PEACE AND CERTAIN COUNTY JUDGES ON INTERNET. (a) A report filed |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | under this chapter with a county clerk by a justice of the peace, a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | candidate for the office of justice of the peace, a judge of a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | county court at law, or a candidate for the office of judge of a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | county court at law must be made available to the public on the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | county's Internet website if the county maintains an Internet |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | website. |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (b) If a county is required to make a report available on the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | county's Internet website under Subsection (a), the county shall |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | make the report available for free and may not require a person to |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | register with the county to view the report. |

| 25 | 25 | | SECTION 2. Section 254.04012, Election Code, as added by |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | this Act, applies only to a report required to be filed under |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Chapter 254, Election Code, that is due on or after January 1, 2020. |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
