 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to voter registration application form distribution
 information reported through the Public Education Information
 Management System.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Section 42.006, Education Code, is amended by
 adding Subsection (a-7) to read as follows:
 (a-7)  The commissioner by rule shall require each school
 district and open-enrollment charter school to report each semester
 through the Public Education Information Management System
 information regarding:
 (1)  the number of students who are or will be 18 years
 of age or older during the school year; and
 (2)  the number of officially prescribed voter
 registration application forms distributed under Section 13.046,
 Election Code.
 SECTION 2.  This Act applies beginning with the 2019-2020
 school year.
 SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
 Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
