57 relating to an investigation unit within the Health and Human
68 Services Commission for certain illegally operating child-care
79 facilities.
810 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
911 SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 531, Government Code, is
1012 amended by adding Section 531.0084 to read as follows:
1113 Sec. 531.0084. INVESTIGATION UNIT FOR ILLEGALLY OPERATING
1214 CHILD-CARE FACILITIES. The executive commissioner shall maintain a
1315 unit within the child-care licensing division of the commission
1416 consisting of investigators whose primary responsibility is to:
1517 (1) identify child-care facilities that are operating
1618 without a license, certification, registration, or listing
1719 required by Chapter 42, Human Resources Code; and
1820 (2) initiate appropriate enforcement actions against
1921 those facilities.
2022 SECTION 2. As soon as possible after the effective date of
2123 this Act, the executive commissioner of the Health and Human
2224 Services Commission shall establish the investigation unit
2325 required by Section 531.0084, Government Code, as added by this
2426 Act.
2527 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
