9 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

10 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 57, Occupations Code, is amended by |
---|
11 | 10 | | adding Section 57.003 to read as follows: |
---|
12 | 11 | | Sec. 57.003. REDUCED OCCUPATIONAL LICENSING FEE FOR CERTAIN |
---|
13 | 12 | | FORMER LICENSE HOLDERS. (a) Notwithstanding any other law, a |
---|
14 | 13 | | state agency that issues a license shall adopt rules requiring the |
---|
15 | 14 | | agency to charge a reduced license application fee or reactivation |
---|
16 | 15 | | fee, as applicable, not to exceed one-third of the amount of the |
---|
17 | 16 | | usual fee, to an applicant who: |
---|
18 | 17 | | (1) in the two-year period preceding the date of the |
---|
19 | 18 | | application, became a parent by natural birth or adoption; and |
---|
20 | 19 | | (2) immediately before the birth or adoption, held an |
---|
21 | 20 | | active license of the same type for which the person is applying. |
---|
22 | 21 | | (b) Rules adopted under this section may require an |
---|
23 | 22 | | applicant to submit to the state agency an attestation or other |
---|
24 | 23 | | documentation relating to the child's birth or adoption. |
---|
25 | 24 | | SECTION 2. Not later than September 1, 2020, a state agency |
---|
26 | 25 | | to which Section 57.003, Occupations Code, as added by this Act, |
---|
27 | 26 | | applies shall adopt and implement the rules required by that |
---|
28 | 27 | | section. |
---|
29 | 28 | | SECTION 3. A state agency to which Section 57.003, |
---|
30 | 29 | | Occupations Code, as added by this Act, applies is required to |
---|
31 | 30 | | implement a provision of this Act only if the legislature |
---|
32 | 31 | | appropriates money specifically for that purpose. If the |
---|
33 | 32 | | legislature does not appropriate money specifically for that |
---|
34 | 33 | | purpose, the state agency may, but is not required to, implement a |
---|
35 | 34 | | provision of this Act using other appropriations available for that |
---|
36 | 35 | | purpose. |
---|
37 | 36 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
