 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the salary of judges in certain statutory county
 courts.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Section 25.0212(d), Government Code, is amended
 to read as follows:
 (d)  The judge of a county court at law shall be paid an
 annual salary that is at least equal to 60 percent, but does not
 exceed 80 percent, of the annual salary that is or would be paid to a
 district judge who had served the same number of years in Bowie
 County, including any supplements or contributions payable by the
 state or Bowie County. The salary shall be paid from the same fund
 and in the same manner as other county officials in Bowie County are
 paid.
 SECTION 2.  Section 25.0942(d), Government Code, is amended
 to read as follows:
 (d)  The judge of a county court at law shall be paid an
 annual salary that is not less than $1,000 less than the total
 annual salary received by a district judge who has served for the
 same number of years in the county. The salary may not be more than
 the total annual salary received by a district judge who has served
 for the same number of years in the county. The salary may be paid in
 equal monthly installments.
 SECTION 3.  Section 25.1852(d), Government Code, is amended
 to read as follows:
 (d)  The judge of a county court at law shall be paid an
 annual salary that is at least equal to the amount that is $1,000
 less than the total annual salary, including supplements, received
 by a district judge who has served for the same number of years in
 the county.
 SECTION 4.  Section 25.2032(d), Government Code, is amended
 to read as follows:
 (d)  The judge of a county court at law shall be paid an
 annual salary that is at least equal to the amount that is 90
 percent of the total annual salary, including supplements, received
 by a district judge who has served for the same number of years in
 the county. The commissioners court may provide travel expenses and
 office expenses, including administrative and clerical assistance,
 in addition to the judge's salary, as it considers necessary.
 SECTION 5.  Section 25.2142(g), Government Code, is amended
 to read as follows:
 (g)  The judge of a county court at law may be paid an annual
 salary that is equal to the amount that is $1,000 less than the
 total annual salary, including supplements, paid a district judge
 who has served for the same number of years in the county. The
 salary shall be paid to the judge in equal installments at the
 established county pay periods. The salary shall be paid out of the
 general fund of the county by warrants drawn on the county treasury
 on order of the commissioners court. The judge of a county court at
 law shall assess the fees prescribed by law relating to county
 judges and district judges according to the nature of the matter
 brought before the judge.
 SECTION 6.  (a) Except as provided by Subsection (b) of this
 section, this Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
 (b)  This Act takes effect only if Senate Bill No. 387, Acts
 of the 86th Legislature, Regular Session, 2019, is enacted and
 becomes law.
