55 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
66 WHEREAS, The valiant military service of Ronald E. Rosser is
77 being saluted as part of the 2019 Medal of Honor Host City Weekend
88 in Gainesville; and
99 WHEREAS, Established in 2001, Gainesville's Medal of Honor
1010 Host City Program acknowledges the heroism and sacrifice of
1111 individuals who have earned the Medal of Honor, the nation's
1212 highest military award for valor; each year, local citizens join
1313 together to fund travel costs and other expenses to bring medal
1414 recipients to the city for a special series of events; and
1515 WHEREAS, A corporal in the U.S. Army 38th Infantry Regiment,
1616 2nd Infantry Division, Mr. Rosser received the Medal of Honor for
1717 his actions in Korea on January 12, 1952; while taking part in an
1818 assault on heavily fortified enemy hill positions, he disregarded
1919 hostile fire to charge the hill three times and dispatch at least 13
2020 enemy combatants; as his platoon withdrew, he made several trips
2121 across open terrain under enemy fire to help remove wounded men,
2222 despite his own injuries; and
2323 WHEREAS, Demonstrating extraordinary courage in the line of
2424 duty, Ronald Rosser fulfilled the highest ideals of the United
2525 States armed forces, and he has earned the lasting admiration of a
2626 grateful nation; now, therefore, be it
2727 RESOLVED, That the 86th Legislature of the State of Texas
2828 hereby pay tribute to Ronald E. Rosser on the occasion of the 2019
2929 Medal of Honor Host City Weekend in Gainesville and commend him for
3030 his exemplary service in the defense of our nation; and, be it
3131 further
3232 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3333 prepared for Mr. Rosser as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3434 House of Representatives and Senate.
