9 | 9 | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 19, Article I, Texas Constitution, is | |
11 | 11 | amended to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 19. (a) No citizen of this State shall be deprived of | |
13 | 13 | life, liberty, property, privileges or immunities, or in any manner | |
14 | 14 | disfranchised, except by the due course of the law of the land. | |
15 | 15 | (b) The protections of this section with regard to the right | |
16 | 16 | to life apply to an unborn child. To the fullest extent authorized | |
17 | 17 | under federal constitutional law as interpreted by the United | |
18 | 18 | States Supreme Court, abortion is prohibited in this state. | |
19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | |
20 | 20 | submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 5, 2019. | |
21 | 21 | The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or against the | |
22 | 22 | proposition: "The constitutional amendment guaranteeing the right | |
23 | 23 | to life of unborn children and, to the fullest extent authorized | |
24 | 24 | under federal constitutional law as interpreted by the United | |
25 | 25 | States Supreme Court, prohibiting abortion." |
