55 A JOINT RESOLUTION
66 proposing a constitutional amendment to prohibit an appraisal
77 district or the appraisal review board for an appraisal district
88 from requiring a property owner to pay a fee in connection with a
99 protest filed by the owner with the board.
1010 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 18, Article VIII, Texas Constitution, is
1212 amended by adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows:
1313 (c-1) An appraisal entity or the board of equalization for
1414 an appraisal entity may not require a property owner to pay a fee in
1515 connection with a protest filed by the owner with the board of an
1616 action that the Legislature by general law authorizes to be the
1717 subject of a protest.
1818 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
1919 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 5, 2019.
2020 The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or against the
2121 proposition: "The constitutional amendment to prohibit an
2222 appraisal district or the appraisal review board for an appraisal
2323 district from requiring a property owner to pay a fee in connection
2424 with a protest filed by the owner with the board.
