10 | 10 | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 18, Article VIII, Texas Constitution, is | |
12 | 12 | amended by adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | (c-1) An appraisal entity or the board of equalization for | |
14 | 14 | an appraisal entity may not require a property owner to pay a fee in | |
15 | 15 | connection with a protest filed by the owner with the board of an | |
16 | 16 | action that the Legislature by general law authorizes to be the | |
17 | 17 | subject of a protest. | |
18 | 18 | SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be | |
19 | 19 | submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 5, 2019. | |
20 | 20 | The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or against the | |
21 | 21 | proposition: "The constitutional amendment to prohibit an | |
22 | 22 | appraisal district or the appraisal review board for an appraisal | |
23 | 23 | district from requiring a property owner to pay a fee in connection | |
24 | 24 | with a protest filed by the owner with the board. |
