2	2	WHEREAS, Alan Haynes of Tyler is being inducted into the
3	3	Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame at the 2019 Toyota
4	4	Bassmaster Texas Fest, taking place May 2-6 at Lake Fork; and
5	5	WHEREAS, Established in 1997, the Texas Freshwater Fishing
6	6	Hall of Fame is located at the Texas Parks and Wildlife
7	7	Department's Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens; the
8	8	hall of fame honors individuals and organizations that have made
9	9	a lasting contribution to freshwater fishing in the Lone Star
10	10	State; and
11	11	WHEREAS, A lifelong sportsman, Alan Haynes founded The
12	12	Sportster Inc. fishing tackle and outdoor sports store in Tyler
13	13	in the 1970s; as the company's president and chief executive
14	14	officer, he demonstrated a forward-thinking and innovative
15	15	approach to business that helped introduce new products to the
16	16	region, and he offered educational opportunities for local
17	17	anglers to learn from world-renowned experts; highly respected
18	18	by his peers, he served as chair of the Nation's Best Sports
19	19	fishing tackle buying committee, and he was an advisory board
20	20	member for Fishing Tackle Retailer magazine; and
21	21	WHEREAS, In addition to his professional successes,
22	22	Mr. Haynes has devoted much of his time and energy to charities
23	23	and government organizations that promote conservation and
24	24	inspire youth to become the next generation of fishing and
25	25	hunting enthusiasts; he cofounded the nonprofit Tyler Woods and
26	26	Waters Club, known today as the East Texas Woods and Waters
27	27	Foundation, which helps fund and promote outdoor-related
28	28	activities; through the years, the organization has been central
29	29	to the development of the Tyler Nature Center, the opening of
30	30	public fishing in the Neches River, and the overall increased
31	31	accessibility of recreational opportunities in East Texas; and
32	32	WHEREAS, Mr. Haynes has served on a number of Texas Parks
33	33	and Wildlife Department boards and committees, including the
34	34	Freshwater Fishing Advisory Committee, the planning committee
35	35	for the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center, and the Texas Parks
36	36	and Wildlife Foundation Kids Fish Program; and
37	37	WHEREAS, For more than 45 years, Alan Haynes has
38	38	distinguished himself through his tireless efforts to promote
39	39	and conserve the recreational fishing resources of the Lone Star
40	40	State, and he is indeed deserving of this prestigious honor; now,
41	41	therefore, be it
42	42	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
43	43	Legislature, hereby congratulate Alan Haynes on his induction
44	44	into the Texas Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame and extend to him
45	45	sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
46	46	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
47	47	prepared for Mr. Haynes as an expression of high regard by the
48	48	Texas Senate.
