2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	recognize the members of the Texas State Technical College
4	4	delegation, who are visiting Austin on February 27, 2019, to
5	5	celebrate Texas State Technical College Day at the State
6	6	Capitol; and
7	7	WHEREAS, For more than 50 years, Texas State Technical
8	8	College has served as the state's premier two-year institution
9	9	for technical education and has provided highly specialized
10	10	training in advanced and emerging technology fields; and
11	11	WHEREAS, The college's 10 campuses offer more than 120
12	12	associate degrees and certificates in 67 program areas and help
13	13	to prepare students for high-wage jobs in a broad range of
14	14	technical fields; and
15	15	WHEREAS, Texas State Technical College provides Texas a
16	16	skilled workforce for Texas industry and is the number one single
17	17	Texas provider of welders, electrical line workers, diesel
18	18	mechanics, and electrical power and control technicians; the
19	19	college is the number two single provider in Texas for
20	20	instrumentation technology technicians and aerospace
21	21	technicians; and
22	22	WHEREAS, Texas State Technical College students have
23	23	repeatedly demonstrated the quality of the college's programs by
24	24	outperforming thousands of students from across the country in
25	25	Skills USA competitions and bringing home to Texas 21 national
26	26	championships since 2004, more than all other Texas schools
27	27	combined; and
28	28	WHEREAS, Texas State Technical College, with its
29	29	first-of-its-kind 100 percent performance-based state funding
30	30	formula and its "Money-Back Tuition Guarantee" to students,
31	31	stands as a national model for innovation and technical training
32	32	among all institutions of higher education; now, therefore, be it
33	33	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
34	34	Legislature, hereby commend the administrator and leadership of
35	35	Texas State Technical College for their many exceptional
36	36	achievements and extend to the faculty, staff, and students
37	37	sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
38	38	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
39	39	Texas State Technical College as an expression of esteem from the
40	40	Texas Senate.
