| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the residents of Hudspeth County as they celebrate |

| 4 | 4 | | Hudspeth County Day at the Capitol; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, This mineral-rich county is celebrated for its |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | scenic vistas, natural springs, and broad blue skies; occupying |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 4,500 square miles in the Trans-Pecos region of Texas, Hudspeth |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | County embodies the mythos of the American West; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The county was formed from land in El Paso County |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | in 1917 and named after State Senator Claude Benton Hudspeth; the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | area has been populated for centuries, however, and its history |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | encompasses a diverse range of cultures, from prehistoric |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | hunter-gatherer societies to the economically rewarding |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | agricultural communities of today; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Located in the Chihuahuan Desert, Hudspeth County |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | is both strikingly rugged and agriculturally fertile; its |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | farmers are famous for their pima cotton and cantaloupe crops, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and cattle ranching is a mainstay; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Residents of Hudspeth County enjoy recreational |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | destinations such as the Guadalupe Mountains National Park and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | unique attractions like the Hudspeth County Courthouse, which is |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the only adobe courthouse in Texas; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, This picturesque corner of the Lone Star State is |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | a West Texas jewel, and its people are known for their confidence |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and their pioneering spirit; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby recognize Hudspeth County Day at the Capitol |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | and extend to the residents of Hudspeth County best wishes for an |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | enjoyable and productive visit to Austin; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
