5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
---|
6 | 6 | | citizens of Austin County in mourning the loss of Douglas W. |
---|
7 | 7 | | King, who died December 17, 2018, at the age of 49; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Doug King was born on April 13, 1969, in |
---|
9 | 9 | | Bellville, to Dennis and Carolyn King; he learned the value of |
---|
10 | 10 | | hard work at a young age by working alongside his father, his |
---|
11 | 11 | | grandfathers, and his uncles in the family's construction |
---|
12 | 12 | | business, King Construction; he was an Eagle Scout and a 1987 |
---|
13 | 13 | | graduate of Brazos High School; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, He and his beloved wife, the late Lori King, were |
---|
15 | 15 | | blessed with three children, Marisa, Racy, and Symantha; after |
---|
16 | 16 | | Lori's untimely death, he accepted the mantle of single |
---|
17 | 17 | | parenthood with courage and strength; his children were the focus |
---|
18 | 18 | | of his life, and he took great pleasure in serving as a |
---|
19 | 19 | | cheerleader for their activities and in learning such skills as |
---|
20 | 20 | | styling ponytails and braiding hair; he also served as a Scout |
---|
21 | 21 | | leader and a football coach; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, In addition to playing an important role in the |
---|
23 | 23 | | family business, he followed the example set by family members by |
---|
24 | 24 | | entering into public service; he served with distinction as an |
---|
25 | 25 | | Austin County commissioner representing Precinct 4, and he had |
---|
26 | 26 | | recently won reelection to a third term; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, He was a devoted son, husband, and father, and he |
---|
28 | 28 | | leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his |
---|
29 | 29 | | family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it |
---|
30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
---|
31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
32 | 32 | | family of Douglas W. King; and, be it further |
---|
33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
---|
34 | 34 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
---|
35 | 35 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
---|
36 | 36 | | memory of Douglas King. |
