| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Dr. Stephen Charles Nash Sr. on the 50th anniversary of |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | his service as a preacher and his 31 years of spiritual leadership |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | at Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Stephen Nash was licensed to preach on |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | April 1, 1969, and was ordained as a pastor in 1970; in the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | ensuing years he has distinguished himself as a respected |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | theologian, a prolific author, and a beloved pastoral leader; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Since his calling to the ministry, Dr. Nash has |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | earned advanced degrees across a range of theological fields, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | including biblical studies, divinity, religious education, urban |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | ministries, and Christian counseling; his broad-ranging |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | publications include a Christian textbook and works on spiritual |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | guidance and biblical history; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A highly respected theologian, Dr. Nash has served |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | in numerous spiritual leadership positions, and he currently |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | serves as president emeritus of the Interdenominational Ministers' |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Alliance of Greater Dallas and as president of the Baptist |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Missionary and Education State Convention of Texas; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Over the last 31 years, Dr. Nash has ministered |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | faithfully to the needs of his spiritual family at Mount Tabor |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Missionary Baptist Church; he has devoted his time and energy |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | unselfishly to the members of his congregation, and he has had a |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | positive influence on the lives of innumerable Christians; now, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Stephen Charles Nash Sr. on a |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | life of exceptional Christian leadership and extend to him |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | congratulations on his 31st anniversary as pastor at Mount Tabor |

| 31 | 31 | | Missionary Baptist Church; and, be it further |
