SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 137
WHEREAS, National Engineers Week is taking place February
25 to March 1, 2019, and this occasion provides a welcome
opportunity to recognize the engineering professionals of the
Texas chapters of ASHRAE; and
WHEREAS, Since 1951, "EWeek" has been set aside to
celebrate the efforts of the men and women who work in the field
of engineering; the event represents a formal coalition of more
than 70 engineering, education, and cultural societies, with the
participation of over 50 corporations and government agencies,
all dedicated to raising public awareness of the positive
contributions engineers make to our nation's quality of life; and
WHEREAS, EWeek also aims to promote recognition among
parents, teachers, and students of the importance of a technical
education and of a high level of literacy in mathematics,
science, and technology; the event seeks to motivate young people
to pursue careers in engineering in order to ensure a diverse and
dynamic engineering workforce; and
WHEREAS, ASHRAE is an international engineering society
that focuses on building systems, energy efficiency, indoor air
quality, refrigeration, and sustainability; the society has more
than 56,000 members in 132 countries, including eight chapters in
the Lone Star State; and
WHEREAS, For centuries, engineers have played an essential
role in civilization through the creation, maintenance, and
improvement of every technological system vital to our way of
life, and they are truly deserving of recognition during this
special week; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
Legislature, hereby recognize February 25 to March 1, 2019, as
National Engineers Week and extend sincere appreciation to the
members of the Texas chapters of ASHRAE; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by
the Texas Senate.
