| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, National Engineers Week is taking place February |

| 3 | 3 | | 25 to March 1, 2019, and this occasion provides a welcome |

| 4 | 4 | | opportunity to recognize the engineering professionals of the |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Texas chapters of ASHRAE; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Since 1951, "EWeek" has been set aside to |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | celebrate the efforts of the men and women who work in the field |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | of engineering; the event represents a formal coalition of more |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | than 70 engineering, education, and cultural societies, with the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | participation of over 50 corporations and government agencies, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | all dedicated to raising public awareness of the positive |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | contributions engineers make to our nation's quality of life; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, EWeek also aims to promote recognition among |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | parents, teachers, and students of the importance of a technical |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | education and of a high level of literacy in mathematics, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | science, and technology; the event seeks to motivate young people |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | to pursue careers in engineering in order to ensure a diverse and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | dynamic engineering workforce; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, ASHRAE is an international engineering society |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | that focuses on building systems, energy efficiency, indoor air |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | quality, refrigeration, and sustainability; the society has more |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | than 56,000 members in 132 countries, including eight chapters in |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the Lone Star State; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, For centuries, engineers have played an essential |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | role in civilization through the creation, maintenance, and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | improvement of every technological system vital to our way of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | life, and they are truly deserving of recognition during this |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | special week; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby recognize February 25 to March 1, 2019, as |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | National Engineers Week and extend sincere appreciation to the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | members of the Texas chapters of ASHRAE; and, be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |

|---|
