| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Mason High School Punchers football team, which won |

| 4 | 4 | | the University Interscholastic League 2018 Class 2A Division I |

|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Mason Punchers defeated the previously |

| 7 | 7 | | unbeaten New Deal High School Lions by a score of 44-6 in the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | title game to secure the school's second state championship |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | victory in the last eight years and its 100th win under head coach |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Kade Burns; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, These young student athletes finished the season |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | with a perfect 16-0 record on the strength of a stifling defense |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and a physical running game; team members can take great pride in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | their outstanding performance; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of |

| 16 | 16 | | Coach Burns and his staff, the Punchers have developed |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | exceptional teamwork and discipline; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mason High School and the people of the Concho |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Valley are proud of the Punchers for their hard work, their |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | impressive skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, |

|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |

| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Mason High School |

| 24 | 24 | | Punchers football team on their outstanding season and extend to |

| 25 | 25 | | them congratulations on winning the 2018 Class 2A Division I |
