| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join Texans across the state in recognizing our state's |

| 4 | 4 | | professional school counselors and in celebrating February 4 |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | through 8, 2019, as National School Counselor Week in Texas; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, School counselors are employed in public and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | private schools across Texas, hold dual certification as both |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | teachers and school counselors, and are actively committed to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | helping students reach their full potential; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, School counselors encourage students to explore |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | their abilities, strengths, talents, and emotional well-being |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | through the delivery of comprehensive school counseling |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | programs; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, School counselors work with teachers, principals, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and other campus personnel to guide students as they explore |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | their interests and their potential, and as they set goals for |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | themselves; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, School counselors engage with parents to help |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | them support the educational, personal, social, and emotional |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | growth of their children; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, These committed educators seek to identify and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | utilize community resources that can enhance and complement |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | comprehensive school counseling programs to enable students to |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | become productive members of society; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Comprehensive school counseling programs are |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | considered an integral part of the educational process that |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | enables students to succeed in school and in life; now, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend all professional school counselors |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | across Texas for their invaluable work and extend to them best |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | wishes during National School Counselor Week in Texas; and, be |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | it further |

| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |

| 35 | 35 | | honor of our state's professional school counselors and as an |
|---|
