| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | welcome the registered nurses and licensed vocational nurses who |

| 4 | 4 | | will be visiting the State Capitol on February 19, 2019, as part |

| 5 | 5 | | of Nurse Day at the Capitol 2019; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The 320,017 registered nurses and 105,974 |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | licensed vocational nurses caring for Texans every day in |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, and other |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | settings are critical to the quality of health care provided in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | our state; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Texas Nurses Association and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the Licensed Vocational Nurses Association of Texas and the other |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Texas nursing organizations represented at the Capitol on Nurse |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Day at the Capitol share a mission of advocacy for excellence in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | patient care; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Nurses advocate on behalf of their patients in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | multiple arenas, from bedside care to public policy, and they are |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | consistently rated by the Gallup Poll as highest in honesty and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | ethical standards of all professionals; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Texas nurses deserve our respect, admiration, and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | appreciation for their commitment to bringing the highest |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | quality of care to the citizens of the Lone Star State; now, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby proclaim February 19, 2019, as Nurse Day at |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | the Capitol and commend all nurses for their invaluable service |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | to the citizens of this state; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | honor of the nursing profession as an expression of high regard |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | from the Texas Senate. |
