2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Members of Leadership Gainesville are visiting |

3 | 3 | | the State Capitol on February 13, 2019, and this occasion |

4 | 4 | | provides a fitting opportunity to honor this esteemed |

5 | 5 | | organization and the town it represents; and |

6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Leadership Gainesville was established in 1989 to |

7 | 7 | | seek out and train well-informed, civic-minded individuals who |
---|
8 | 8 | | are interested in holding voluntary positions of responsibility |
---|
9 | 9 | | in the community; sponsored by the Gainesville Area Chamber of |
---|
10 | 10 | | Commerce, the group includes members from a variety of |
---|
11 | 11 | | backgrounds, as well as persons of different ages; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The current class is composed of 20 distinguished |
---|
13 | 13 | | local residents: Betty Pratt, Brant Myres-Schroeder, Brittenie |
---|
14 | 14 | | Polk, Cassandra Goins, Cory Enderby, Dan Doss, David Glancy, |

15 | 15 | | Janice Hill, Jeffrey Stevens, Jessica Bullock, John Richard |

17 | 17 | | Myers, Mattie Sherwin, Reagan Lynch, Shala Dennis, Morgan Moore, |

19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Gainesville has earned a reputation for offering |

20 | 20 | | a high quality of life in a small-town setting; designated as a |

21 | 21 | | Medal of Honor Host City and named Most Patriotic Small Town in |

22 | 22 | | America by USA Today and Rand McNally, the community is known for |

23 | 23 | | its friendly and welcoming residents, its historic homes, the |
---|
24 | 24 | | Morton Museum, the beautifully restored courthouse, and the |
---|
25 | 25 | | downtown business district; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Leadership Gainesville is promoting the spirit of |
---|
27 | 27 | | volunteerism and hometown pride that are defining characteristics |
---|
28 | 28 | | of Gainesville, and by fostering an informed and engaged citizenry, |
---|
29 | 29 | | the program is helping to build a brighter and more prosperous |
---|
30 | 30 | | future for the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |

31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |

32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby welcome members of Leadership Gainesville to |

33 | 33 | | the State Capitol and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
