1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 194
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in
3	3	recognizing February 20, 2019, as Texas Dental Association
4	4	Legislative Day; and
5	5	WHEREAS, The Texas Dental Association has more than 9,100
6	6	members and is the third-largest state dental association in the
7	7	United States; it represents the oral health care providers in our
8	8	state and advocates the highest standards for the profession; and
9	9	WHEREAS, The association was chartered on May 17, 1871; the
10	10	association's Texas Dental Journal was first published in 1883
11	11	and is the oldest continuously operating dental periodical in the
12	12	Western Hemisphere; following a study by the association on the
13	13	regulation of dental practice in Texas, the first law regulating
14	14	dental practice was passed by the Texas Legislature in 1889; and
15	15	WHEREAS, The mission of the association is to be the "Voice
16	16	of Dentistry in Texas" and to promote high-quality oral health
17	17	care for all Texans; now, therefore, be it
18	18	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
19	19	Legislature, hereby commend the Texas Dental Association for
20	20	advocating the highest standards of dental care for the citizens
21	21	of this state and welcome representatives as they celebrate Texas
22	22	Dental Association Legislative Day at the State Capitol; and, be
23	23	it further
24	24	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an
25	25	expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
