1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 195
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	recognize the delegation from the Live Oak County Historical
4	4	Commission, which is visiting the State Capitol on
5	5	February 26, 2019; and
6	6	WHEREAS, The Live Oak County Historical Commission was
7	7	founded in the early 1960s under the auspices of Judge Harry L.
8	8	Hinton to help preserve and promote local history; and
9	9	WHEREAS, The commission strives to educate the public
10	10	through the publication of historical resources and through
11	11	collaboration with local civic organizations; staff and
12	12	volunteers also work with local officials to strengthen policy
13	13	related to preservation and to honor outstanding individuals and
14	14	businesses that have helped shape the community; and
15	15	WHEREAS, The commission helps preserve the region's unique
16	16	history by placing historical markers at notable sites
17	17	throughout the area; it also advocates for the acquisition of
18	18	archeological grants to study historic sites, such as the Fort
19	19	Merrill grounds; and
20	20	WHEREAS, The Live Oak County Historical Commission has
21	21	received four Distinguished Service Awards from the Texas
22	22	Historical Commission; the commission has also made great
23	23	headway with cemetery recognition under the leadership of
24	24	Cemetery Chair Sherry Kosarek; and
25	25	WHEREAS, The Live Oak County Historical Commission is
26	26	indeed deserving of recognition for its diligent work to promote
27	27	the region's unique cultural history and to preserve the memories
28	28	of the citizenry; now, therefore, be it
29	29	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
30	30	Legislature, hereby commend all who work to achieve the important
31	31	goals of the commission and declare February 26, 2019, as Live
32	32	Oak County Historical Commission Day at the Texas Capitol; and,
33	33	be it further
34	34	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
35	35	the commission as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
