5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
---|
6 | 6 | | citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Charles Dicky Travis, |
---|
7 | 7 | | who died January 27, 2019, at the age of 82; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Dicky Travis was a respected public servant who |
---|
9 | 9 | | enriched the lives of others through his kindness, his integrity, |
---|
10 | 10 | | and his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Born September 23, 1936, Dicky attended Baylor |
---|
12 | 12 | | University and graduated from The University of Texas; he began |
---|
13 | 13 | | his career by working in the Governor's Budget Office under |
---|
14 | 14 | | Governor Price Daniel, and he served the office with distinction |
---|
15 | 15 | | for 19 years through the terms of four governors; in 1979, he was |
---|
16 | 16 | | appointed executive director of the Texas Parks and Wildlife |
---|
17 | 17 | | Department, and he later served as executive director of the |
---|
18 | 18 | | Employees Retirement System of Texas; he retired in 1995 after 35 |
---|
19 | 19 | | years of exemplary state service; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Dicky shared 62 years of marriage with his high |
---|
21 | 21 | | school sweetheart, Lydia; they were blessed with two children and |
---|
22 | 22 | | four grandchildren, who were a source of great pride and joy for |
---|
23 | 23 | | him; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Dicky Travis was a loyal friend and a trusted |
---|
25 | 25 | | mentor and counselor to many, and he will long be remembered with |
---|
26 | 26 | | respect and admiration by all who were privileged to share in his |
---|
27 | 27 | | life; now, therefore, be it |
---|
28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
---|
29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
30 | 30 | | family of Charles Dicky Travis; and, be it further |
---|
31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
---|
32 | 32 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
---|
33 | 33 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
---|
34 | 34 | | memory of Charles Dicky Travis. |
