55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
66 citizens of Amarillo in mourning the loss of Jimmie Ray Bridges,
77 who died February 22, 2018, at the age of 74; and
88 WHEREAS, Born November 26, 1943, in Hereford, Texas,
99 Jimmie Bridges was a man of natural charm and sharp wit, and he
1010 was admired by friends for the compassion he consistently showed
1111 to those who were struggling; and
1212 WHEREAS, Jimmie served with distinction for three years in
1313 the United States Army; he loved the military and enjoyed
1414 traveling to different parts of the country and the world; he
1515 actively supported his fellow veterans throughout his life; and
1616 WHEREAS, Jimmie was a highly skilled mechanic, and his
1717 loved ones often joked about his ability to walk into a wrecking
1818 yard and drive out with a working car; he later developed a talent
1919 for working on computers, and he gave generously of his time
2020 repairing and building cars and computers for friends or people
2121 in need; and
2222 WHEREAS, Jimmie worked for 25 years as a manager and
2323 maintenance technician at the Fountain Terrace Apartments in
2424 Amarillo, and he was a longtime and active member of Christian
2525 Heritage Church; he looked forward to riding his motorcycle with
2626 his fellow Christian bikers, and later in life, he enjoyed
2727 spending time at auctions and gun shows; and
2828 WHEREAS, A devoted father to his daughter, Shalyn Bridges,
2929 and a cherished friend to many, Jimmie Bridges enriched the lives
3030 of those who knew him through his youthful spirit, his warm and
3131 ready smile, and his boundless generosity; he was beloved by many,
3232 and he will long be remembered with respect and admiration by all
3333 who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
3434 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
3535 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
3636 family of Jimmie Ray Bridges; and, be it further
3737 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3838 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
3939 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
4040 memory of Jimmie Bridges.
