5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |

6 | 6 | | citizens of Pleasanton in mourning the loss of Judge J. Taylor |
---|
7 | 7 | | Brite, who died January 8, 2019, at the age of 97; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born in San Antonio on October 27, 1921, Taylor |
---|
9 | 9 | | Brite was a devoted public servant who was widely admired for his |
---|
10 | 10 | | kindness, his integrity, and his unbiased approach to the law; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Taylor Brite began a life of service as a member |
---|
12 | 12 | | of the United States Army Air Corps, and he served with |
---|
13 | 13 | | distinction during World War II; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, He built a reputation for judicial excellence |
---|
15 | 15 | | presiding as judge of the 81st Judicial District in South Texas, |
---|
16 | 16 | | and he went on to serve as senior district judge for the State of |
---|
17 | 17 | | Texas and oversaw trials in numerous Texas counties; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Judge Brite shared 68 years of marriage with the |
---|
19 | 19 | | late Frances Calcote Brite; left behind to cherish his memory are |
---|
20 | 20 | | his children, Steve, Gary, and Tom Brite and Patricia Brite |
---|
21 | 21 | | Taylor; his grandchildren, Chris and Matt Taylor, Jennifer |

22 | 22 | | Hissem, Amy Brinkerhoff, Emily Grecco, Kevin Hillis, Robert, |
---|
23 | 23 | | Tara, Taylor, and Alan Brite and Rachel Arevalo; and his 11 |
---|
24 | 24 | | great-grandchildren; and |

25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Judge Brite was a respected and beloved member of |

26 | 26 | | his community, and he will long be remembered with fondness and |
---|
27 | 27 | | admiration by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, |

29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |

30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |

31 | 31 | | family of Judge J. Taylor Brite; and, be it further |

32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

33 | 33 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
