| 7 | 7 | | showing in the regular season, the Greyhounds marched through the |

| 8 | 8 | | postseason in dominant fashion; the team won each of its first |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | four playoff games by 45 points or more, defeating Gold-Burg, |

| 10 | 10 | | Walnut Springs, Iredell, and Oakwood High Schools to earn a spot |

| 11 | 11 | | in the title contest against Follett High; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, In a game that was notable for featuring the |

| 13 | 13 | | first-ever use of instant replay in state championship |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | competition, the Strawn players again overwhelmed their opponent; |

| 15 | 15 | | Offensive Most Valuable Player Carlos Villanueva rushed for three |

| 16 | 16 | | touchdowns while Defensive Most Valuable Player Tanner Hodgkins |

| 17 | 17 | | recorded two sacks as the Greyhounds won 48-0 after the mercy rule |

| 18 | 18 | | was invoked following just one half of play; and |

| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The triumph marked the first time in school |

| 20 | 20 | | history that Strawn has collected back-to-back state crowns, and |

| 21 | 21 | | it represented the Greyhounds' fourth state title overall, each |

| 22 | 22 | | of which has come under the guidance of head coach Dewaine Lee; |

| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, In winning consecutive state championships, the |

| 26 | 26 | | Greyhounds of Strawn High School have earned a place among the |

|---|
| 28 | 28 | | players will forever treasure their memories of this notable |
|---|

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
