| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Todd Witt, a 56-year-old father of three, set an |

| 3 | 3 | | inspiring example of perseverance by earning his Ph.D. from Texas |

| 4 | 4 | | Tech University in 2018; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Witt studied higher education administration |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | at the University of Mississippi in the 1990s but put his dreams |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of completing his doctorate on hold due to the responsibilities |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | of raising a family; with only his dissertation needed, he was |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | able to resume his coursework through the Texas Tech College of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Education's online program and recently graduated with a Ph.D. in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in STEM education; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Although he saw the degree as more of a labor of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | love than a means to a career, it led Mr. Witt to a job working as |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | an education and outreach manager at the Texas Freshwater |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Fisheries Center in Athens, where he plans educational |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | experiences for the children who tour the facility and its |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | exhibits; part of his research at Texas Tech involved studying |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the style of education known as experiential learning and the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | ways that field trips can benefit student performance on |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | standardized tests, and he is currently in charge of a number of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | updates to the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center that will help |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | young visitors to better understand science through hands-on |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | activities; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, A role model to his loved ones and to students of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | all ages, Todd Witt has distinguished himself by completing his |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | education and beginning an exciting new career, and he may indeed |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | reflect with well-deserved pride on this impressive achievement; |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Todd Witt on earning his Ph.D. |

| 31 | 31 | | from Texas Tech University and extend to him sincere best wishes |

| 32 | 32 | | for continued success; and, be it further |
