| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Founded with the passage of the Riegle Community |

| 6 | 6 | | Development and Regulatory Improvement Act of 1994, Community |

| 7 | 7 | | Development Financial Institutions work to promote economic |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | development by providing financial products and services to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | members of underserved communities; the more than 40 |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | institutions across the state encompass community development |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | banks and credit unions, as well as nonregulated institutions |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | such as nonprofit loan funds and venture capital funds; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Community Development Financial Institutions |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | partner with traditional financial institutions to enable |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | underbanked clients to participate in the banking system, and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | have collectively served thousands of Texas residents; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Community Development Financial Institutions |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | have made invaluable contributions to the economic vitality of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the Lone Star State, and they are indeed worthy of recognition |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | for the positive difference they have made in the lives of many |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Texans; now, therefore, be it |

| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |

| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby honor Community Development Financial |
