| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join citizens across the state in celebrating February 27, 2019, |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | as United Way's Community Day at the Texas Capitol; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, United Way agencies mobilize the caring power of |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | communities by facilitating the work of thousands of volunteers |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | and collaborating with service organizations to improve lives; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, United Way's system-wide goals include supporting |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | financial stability, education, and good health among families |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and individuals and information and resource referral systems |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | such as 2-1-1; local agencies help meet United Way's goals |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | through fund-raising and extensive community reinvestment; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Texas is home to 70 United Way organizations, each |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | of which benefit from a caring staff and a devoted group of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | volunteers who work diligently to create opportunities for their |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | communities to flourish; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Local philanthropy and volunteerism are |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | invaluable assets to our state, and United Way agencies have |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | affected measurable change and strengthened communities |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | throughout Texas; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Legislature, hereby commend the staff, volunteers, and donors of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | United Way agencies across Texas for their efforts to help our |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | communities thrive and extend to all best wishes for a rewarding |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | United Way's Community Day at the Texas Capitol; and, be it further |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor |

| 27 | 27 | | of United Way and as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
