SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 256
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Texas Heritage and Independence Celebration
Association, Incorporated, and its annual "Happy Birthday Texas"
event and cook-off; and
WHEREAS, The "Happy Birthday Texas" event includes 1836
battle reenactments, live entertainment, an art show, and the
Texas Independence Cook-off; and
WHEREAS, The cook-off is sanctioned by the International
Barbecue Cookers Association as one of the organization's state
championship competitions, and it is held annually during the
second week of March at the San Benito Fairgrounds in San
Benito; and
WHEREAS, The Texas Heritage and Independence Celebration
Association's annual event is held with the cooperation of the
City of San Benito, the San Benito Economic Development
Corporation, the San Benito school district, and Texas
Humanities, who all contribute toward making it a bigger and
better event each year; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
Legislature, hereby commend the sponsor and organizers of the
Texas Heritage and Independence Celebration Association's annual
"Happy Birthday Texas" event and Texas Independence Cook-off and
extend to them best wishes for a successful and memorable event;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of this special occasion.
