| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The "Happy Birthday Texas" event includes 1836 |

| 7 | 7 | | battle reenactments, live entertainment, an art show, and the |

| 8 | 8 | | Texas Independence Cook-off; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The cook-off is sanctioned by the International |

| 10 | 10 | | Barbecue Cookers Association as one of the organization's state |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | championship competitions, and it is held annually during the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | second week of March at the San Benito Fairgrounds in San |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Benito; and |

| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Heritage and Independence Celebration |

| 15 | 15 | | Association's annual event is held with the cooperation of the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | City of San Benito, the San Benito Economic Development |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Corporation, the San Benito school district, and Texas |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Humanities, who all contribute toward making it a bigger and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | better event each year; now, therefore, be it |

| 20 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |

| 21 | 21 | | Legislature, hereby commend the sponsor and organizers of the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Texas Heritage and Independence Celebration Association's annual |

| 23 | 23 | | "Happy Birthday Texas" event and Texas Independence Cook-off and |

| 24 | 24 | | extend to them best wishes for a successful and memorable event; |
