| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join the citizens of Howard County and Texans across the state in |

| 4 | 4 | | celebrating February 27, 2019, as Howard County Day at the |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Capitol; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Located between the Llano Estacado and the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Edwards Plateau, Howard County is known as a center for diverse |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | professional fields and industries, including oil and gas |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | production, health care, education, agriculture, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | transportation, and manufacturing; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The ongoing development and redevelopment of Big |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Spring's historic downtown district have led to an era of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | widespread revitalization that has helped communities throughout |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the region to thrive; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Residents and visitors enjoy an array of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | recreational activities found in the trails and green spaces at |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Big Spring State Park, Comanche Trail Park, and Moss Lake, and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | they can learn about Howard County's colorful past at the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Heritage Museum, the Hangar 25 Air Museum, and the newly restored |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | historic "big spring"; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Residents of Howard County are devoted to their |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | communities and to the land that shaped their cities and towns; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | they can be justifiably proud of their success in preserving the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | area's rich history and in providing a robust quality of life for |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | all of the county's citizens; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend the people of Howard County for their |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | many contributions to the growth and progress of our state and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | extend to them best wishes for an enjoyable Howard County Day at |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | the Capitol; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | honor of this special day. |
