| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, A delegation from the San Antonio nonprofit Eva's |

| 3 | 3 | | Heroes is visiting the State Capitol on February 27, 2019; and |

| 4 | 4 | | WHEREAS, Eva's Heroes was founded in 2006 by actress Eva |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Longoria and Christiane Perkins-Garcia to help address the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | scarcity of programs for teenagers and adults with intellectual |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | disabilities; the group is dedicated to enriching the lives of |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | individuals with special needs by creating an inclusive |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | environment for them that is anchored on four organizational |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | tenets: interact, grow, learn, and love; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Annually, Eva's Heroes serves more than 1,900 |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | teens and young adults in Bexar County by hosting meaningful and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | engaging programs and activities that help foster independence |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and build self-esteem; the organization is sustained by a caring |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | team that includes its board of directors, staff, donors, and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | volunteers, who are united by the desire to be advocates for the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | rights and well-being of persons with disabilities; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Eva's Heroes is helping to make the community a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | more welcoming and accepting place for all San Antonians, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | including those whose voices are less often heard, and in so |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | doing, it is making a profound difference in the lives of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | countless families; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby recognize Eva's Heroes on the occasion of its |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | visit to the State Capitol and extend to all those associated |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | with the organization sincere best wishes for continued success |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | with their important work; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
