5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Boerne community lost a valued member and a |
---|
6 | 6 | | loving friend on January 15, 2019, with the passing of Richard |
---|
7 | 7 | | Kenneth Coleman; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Rick Coleman was born in Detroit and grew up in |
---|
9 | 9 | | Edina, Minnesota; he earned a bachelor's degree in civil |
---|
10 | 10 | | engineering and a master's degree in structural engineering from |
---|
11 | 11 | | the University of Michigan; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Rick had a 37-year career at Exxon, which took him |
---|
13 | 13 | | to locations all over the world, including London and Moscow; he |
---|
14 | 14 | | enjoyed working at Exxon and was known for his many achievements |
---|
15 | 15 | | in engineering, but he much preferred spending time with his |
---|
16 | 16 | | family and friends; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, He met the love of his life, Maggy Higgins, on a |
---|
18 | 18 | | blind date, and they were engaged two months later and married the |
---|
19 | 19 | | same year; when Rick and Maggy retired, they took up residence in |
---|
20 | 20 | | the Texas Hill Country not far from where they were wed; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Rick relished golf, lived for good-weather days |
---|
22 | 22 | | to cruise in his convertible, and delighted in a good margarita |
---|
23 | 23 | | with friends; he also loved to travel, especially with his |
---|
24 | 24 | | ever-growing family; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, His sense of humor, kindness, energy, and |
---|
26 | 26 | | graciousness enriched the lives of those fortunate enough to know |
---|
27 | 27 | | and work with him; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, He will long be remembered with great affection by |
---|
29 | 29 | | his devoted wife, Maggy, and by their two children, Matt and Kelly, |
---|
30 | 30 | | and their two treasured grandchildren; now, therefore, be it |
---|
31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
---|
32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
33 | 33 | | family of Richard Kenneth Coleman; and, be it further |
---|
34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
---|
35 | 35 | | his family and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
---|
36 | 36 | | memory of Rick Coleman. |
