| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | to a close with the passing of Harry Gaylon Riddle of Mount |

| 7 | 7 | | Pleasant on January 17, 2019, at the age of 81; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Harry and Hazel Riddle, Gaylon Riddle |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | was born in Sugar Hill on December 31, 1937; he grew up with four |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | siblings, Paula, Ronnie, Jimmy Bob, and Michael, and he graduated |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | from Talco High School; after initially attending Paris Junior |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | College, he went on to complete his undergraduate studies at East |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Texas Bible College and ultimately earned master of divinity and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | doctor of ministry degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Seminary; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Riddle taught school while pastoring numerous |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | churches in Louisiana and Texas, including Highland Park Baptist |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Church in Mount Pleasant; dedicated to outreach, he participated |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | in mission programs in Russia and Israel, and he worked with |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | ministerial students while employed at East Texas Baptist |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | College; moreover, he held leadership roles with the Baptist |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | General Convention of Texas and Baptist Hospital in Beaumont; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Riddle enjoyed the love |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and support of his wife, Sandra, with whom he shared a rewarding |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | marriage that spanned more than six decades; he was the proud |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | father of two sons, Dane and Bryan, and he had the pleasure of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | seeing his family grow to include four grandchildren, Meredith, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Carson, Addis, and Heidi; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Although Gaylon Riddle is deeply missed, memories |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | of his devotion to his family and his strong faith remain to |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | comfort and inspire those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Harry Gaylon |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Riddle and extend heartfelt sympathy to all who mourn his |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | passing; and, be it further |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
|---|
