| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Residents of Crockett County are gathering in |

| 3 | 3 | | Austin on February 28, 2019, to celebrate Crockett County Day at |

| 4 | 4 | | the State Capitol; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Crockett County covers more than 2,800 square |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | miles of majestic and varied canyons, mesas, and savannas and is |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | home to a diverse economy of ranching and oil and gas production; |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | formed in 1875, the county was named after the legendary Davy |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Crockett and is geographically the eighth largest county in the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | state; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Self-styled as the "Biggest Little Town in the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | World," Ozona is the only town in Crockett County and is named for |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the high quality of its open air; its attractions include the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Crockett County Museum, where visitors are treated to a wealth of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | stories about the county's vibrant past and can view artifacts |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | from area residents dating as far back as 10,000 B.C.; the town |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | also hosts a junior rodeo, and the square is home to such works as |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the Tie That Binds sculpture, in memory of pioneer families, and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the Davy Crockett Monument; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Celebrating their rich and colorful history as |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | they work together to build a bright future, the citizens of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Crockett County may take justifiable pride in the important role |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | their unique region continues to play in the story of the Lone |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Star State; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby recognize February 28, 2019, as Crockett |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | County Day at the State Capitol and extend to the visiting |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | delegation sincere best wishes for a meaningful and memorable |
